Foggy 1st Ave So., Christmas Eve Morning, 2017

Foggy 1st Ave So., Christmas Eve Morning, 2017 - These were taken in front of the Tampa Bay Times' building at 490 1st Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Fla. The building is no longer being used, as it was damaged when a construction crane collaped during Hurricane Milton in October 2024, becoming uninhabitable. The property is now for sale, with the seller planning to demolish the century-old building before a sale is finalized.

Unloading The Truck

Unloading The Truck - The Suncoast Haven of Rest was a rescue mission that fed those struggling to make ends meet. Located in Pinellas Park, Florida (when this photo was taken), they had a food pantry, served lunch and, for a while, dinner for the homeless and working poor. The mission, which has since left Pinellas Park, would send its truck out to pick up food from local grocery stores, restaurants, and collection sites.

To view this and other photos from Haven of Rest, go to my website, then check the archives section of the photo documentaries.

Salt Creek Artworks, Creek-side

Salt Creek Artworks, Creek-side - To get this photo, I had to lean over Salt Creek. The only thing keeping me from falling in the water - with camera - was to focus the camera, then hook my right arm around a metal railing on an adjacent property's loading dock, lean waaaay over the creek, with the camera in my left hand (held over the water), then click. Viola.
