Clothesline Project, USFSP
Clothesline Project, University of South Florida St. Petersburg - The Clothesline Project started on Cape Cod, Massachusetts in 1990 as a way to bring attention to domestic violence. Survivors can decorate a shirt to help express their emotions on this issue. (Those who have lost loved ones to domestic violence also can decorate a shirt in memory of their loved ones.) These shirts are then hung on local Clothesline Projects across the United States.
Several years ago, part of the Clothesline Project of Tampa Bay was set up at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
NOTE: If you or someone you love is a victim of domestic violence/abuse, please seek help. If that person is in immediate danger, dial 9-1-1 (if available in your area), or have the emergency police number memorized for immediate help. In the U.S., help can also be obtained by calling 1−800−799−7233 or TTY 1−800−787−3224 or on the web at http://www.thehotline.org/.

Clothesline Project
Clothesline Project - Free at Last! - The Clothesline Project is a program that addresses violence against women, especially, but not exclusively, domestic violence. (Domestic violence affects men, too. While more women and children are victims than men, men are also victims of domestic violence.) The Clothesline Project, which started on Cape Cod, MA, allows affected women a way to express what has happened to them. Many times, however, friends or family members decorate a shirt for the local Clothesline Project in memory of someone who has died due to abuse.

Clothesline Project
Clothesline Project - Some of these photos have been posted on this blog before, as well as in the documentary archives of Robin Shwedo Productions.
The Clothesline Project started in 1990 on Cape Cod, MA to bring attention to domestic violence.
PLEASE NOTE: If you, or someone you know is being abused and/or otherwise affected by domestic violence, please call for help. Call 911 where available (or, if you're outside the U.S., your local emergency number); if your area does not have 911, try to memorize the local police emergency phone number. Other numbers are here: Hotline Phone Numbers
Domestic Violence Hotline:
800.621.HOPE (4673)
Crime Victims Hotline:
866.689.HELP (4357)
Rape & Sexual Assault Hotline:
212.227.3000
TDD phone number for all hotlines:
866.604.5350
You can also check out The National Domestic Violence Hotline or call the hotline at 1−800−799−7233 or TTY 1−800−787−3224. (If you're being abused, be aware that computer use can be monitored, even if you shut the computer down. If you're able to check from a safe computer - at libraries, computer cafes, a friend's computer - that can be a great option.)
One of the clubs at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg brought part of the Clothesline Project to the USFSP campus several years ago. The first few photos are from USFSP.

This is part of the group that brought the Clothesline Project to USFSP. THANKS, EVERYONE!

The remainder of these were taken at a park in St. Petersburg, Florida.
